Mechanical Key Switches

The Advantage utilizes the Cherry MX Brown stem low-force tactile switch.  "Tactility" is a slightly elevated force around the midpoint of the stroke of the key which lets you know the switch is about to be activated.  A tactile response is preferred by many ergonomists because it cues your fingers that activation is about to occur, and can reduce the frequency of "bottoming out" the switch with a hard impact.

Smaller Footprint 

The Advantage 2 may look big, but it actually has a smaller footprint than a traditional keyboard and even many “ergonomic” keyboards because we eliminated the numeric 10-key.  A smaller footprint lets you place the mouse closer to your body, reducing painful “over-reach”.  To satisfy number crunchers, we embedded a traditional 10-key in the right key well.  We also offer a standalone low-force mechanical keypad which allows you to position it where you want it and move it out of the way when not in use.

Fixed Split - Hands are positioned at shoulder-width to keep wrists straight and reduce ulnar deviation.

20 Degree Tenting - Tenting elevates the thumb side of the hand to reduce forearm pronation caused by flat keyboards.

Compact Design - Tenkeyless layout with embedded keypad results in closer mouse placement for less "over-reach" strain.

Palm Support - Integrated palm supports and cushioned palm pads promote neutral wrist position and reducting harmful wrist extension.

Concave Wells - Hands and fingers are placed in a natural, relaxed position to shorten key-reach and reduce over-extension.

Sculpted Home Row - Find the home row without taking your eyes off the screen with sculpted home row keycaps.

Thumb Keys - Use stronger thumbs rather than weaker pinkies to access heavily used keys like Space, Backspace, and Enter.

Vertical Keys - Orthogonal key arrangement mirrors the natural motion of your fingers to increase speed and comfort.

SmartSet

The fully programmable Advantage2 features Kinesis's SmartSet Programming Engine which allows you to customize the keyboard's layout without installing any clunky software or special drivers, or accessing the internet. 

Record macros, remap keys, and much, much more using convenient onboard shortcuts.  SmartSet works on all major operating systems and enables the users to easily create, view, edit, share, and backup their custom layouts.

Kinesis Mechanical Keypad for PC

The Kinesis Mechanical Keypad is a heavy-duty numeric kepad with Cherry MX Brown mechanical key switches.

It is ideal for heavy 10-key users, and the perfect companion for "tenkeyless" keyboards such as the Kinesis Freestyle2, Freestyle Pro, and Advantage2, or laptop users.

The 2-port USB hub enables you to easily connect other low-power input devices such as mice and flash drives without having to access USB ports on the back of the computer.

Cherry MX Mechanical Switches                                                                                     

The keypad utilises Cherry MX Brown mechanical key switches, the same low-force, tactile mechanical key switch used in the popular Advantage2 and Freestyle Pro keyboards.

Mechanical switches are spring-loaded for a quick rebound to improve both speed and accuracy, and are rated for 50 million keystrokes for unmatched durability.

Ergonomics Behind a Stand-Alone Keypad

Using an external keypad is ergonomically sound because it gives the users flexibility in positioning the keypad when in use to the right or left of the keyboard, or between the key modules of a split keyboard.  When not in use, users can move the keypad out of the way and enjoy more desk space and closer mouse placement. 

Kinesis Advantage2 Palm Supports

The Kinesis Advantage2 Palm Supports are a pair of black cushioned pads that have been designed to be fitted to the Kinesis Advantage2 Keyboard range.

The Advantage replacement palm pads are identical to the original pads that came with your Advantage2 Keyboard. 

1/4 of an inch thick, made from a closed cell foam that has an unusually soft, gel-like feel, the palm pads are covered in a lycra fabric.  

The adhesive backing provides firm adhesion but may be easily removed when replacements are needed. 

The replacement palm pads fit all models of Kinesis contoured keyboards.
