Troubleshooting:
Issue: How to adjust the back of the chair
The back of the chair is on a ratchet which is designed for adjustment of the back height (up and down). Usually, the ratchet will have 6 – 7 clicks of adjustment, or have a Multi-click Mechanism that has a higher number of smaller click adjustments. Once the back reaches the top/highest notch, the back will drop down to allow the user to reset the height.
To reset the back of the chair, take the back all the way to the bottom and then raise it click by click, counting the clicks as you go, until it drops. On the last click, before the back drops, is the maximum height the back can be set to. This is harder to do on the Multi-click Mechanism.
Some people adjust the back while seated and raise it past the height of the last notch. Because the person’s back is in contact with the backrest, the back may not drop until the person moves their back away from the chair. Some people push back into their chair while seated, or accidentally raise the back when getting out of the chair.
If the back will not lock into position, repair is required. To confirm, try raising the back a few notches from the lowest height position and push down on the backrest. If it does not hold that position, the back is faulty.
