Kinesis Freestyle2 for PC - 20cm or 50cm Separation, Kinesis Freestyle2 for Mac - 20cm Separation, and Kinesis Freestyle2 Blue for PC - 20cm Separation

Award-Winning Split Keyboard

The Kinesis Freestyle2 is one of the most versatile keyboards available.  The low profile keyboard is divided into two separate modules connected by a cable.  The modular design allows the user to configure the keyboard in its optimal orientation, either by splaying the modules at any angle or by adjusting the distance between the modules.

The Kinesis Freestyle2 is The National Ergonomics Conference and Exposition (The Productivity Show) Attendee's Choice Winner 2011.

The Freestyle2 is an award-wining split keyboard designed to address the ergonomic risk factors related to typing by adjusting to your body.  It features a familiar Windows layout and convenient hotkeys.

The Kinesis Freestyle2 for PC is available with two separation options, 20cm (9") and 50cm (20").

The Kinesis Freestyle2 Keyboard for Mac - 20cm Separation is a Wired Keyboard that is adjustable to suit different user body types by having a variable splay of 20cm.

The Freestyle2 Blue for PC is an award-winning split keyboard designed to adjust to your body and typing style.  The Kinesis Freestyle2 Blue™ wireless keyboard combines the award winning split-adjustable ergonomic design with the convenience of bluetooth connectivity.  No more sacrificing comfort when typing on a PC, Tablet, or Smartphone.  Multichannel technology lets users pair up to 3 three Bluetooth-enabled devices with the Freestyle2 Blue and instantly switch between them directly from the keyboard.  Driverless hot keys for commonly used mouse actions - Internet Page, Forward and Back, Undo, Web Home, Cut, Copy and Paste.  A vertical rib is located on the inside row of hot keys to provide tactile notification to the user.

Sleek, Low Profile Design

Most keyboards, including ergonomic models, have a 10 degree positive slope from front to back.  These designs tend to bend your wrists.

The Freestyle2 has a zero degree slope which minimises the height, effectively creating negative slope and reducing wrist extension.

Accommodates a Wide Range of Individuals

From small to tall and body types in between, the Freestyle2 allows for maximum flexibility catering to each individual's unique needs.

Out of the box, both modules are connected together by a flexible pivot tether allowing an infinite range of splay.  Disconnecting the pivot tether allows for complete separation of both left and right keying modules.

Perfect for individual needs ranging from a narrow footprint to complete separation.  This design greatly reduces and or/eliminates ulnar deviation.

Low-Force, Tactile Key Switches

The Freestyle2 utilises a quiet, low-force, tactile membrane key switch.  The typical average maximum key force of a switch is 45 grams.  This is at least 25% less than most traditional and many ergonomic keyboards such as the Microsoft 4000 which has a maximum key force of over 60 grams.

Standard Key Layout

Familiar key layout provides for minimal adaptation time.

Troubleshooting:

Issue 1: Removing Debris from the Keys

The keyboard can be cleaned with compressed air (Office Works, Bunnings, Harvey Norman) or a soft brush.

Before cleaning the keyboard, switch the keyboard off.

If using compressed air:

  • tilt the keyboard slightly to one side.  This helps any dust and debris to fall out as you clean.
  • Hold the canister upright and use short bursts of air to blow out dust and debris from between the key
  • Keep the nozzle a few centimetres away from the keyboard to avoid moisture buildup

A soft brush can be used to gently dislodge debris.

The keycaps can be removed from the kinesis Freestyle Keyboard:

  • Keycaps can be removed using a keycap puller.  Alternatively, if a kepcap puller is not available, you can use two paper clips.  Bend the paper clips into a hook or “J” shape, and gently insert them under the keycap.  Then, pull the keycap straight up to remove it.
  • Once the keycaps re removed, they can be cleaned and the area underneath can be cleaned with compressed air or with a soft brush.
  • To reattach the keycaps, align the keycap and press it into place.
